Welcome to the site of John Kaye, Greens MLC
The future is at risk. Greenhouse pollution is threatening to damage the ability of the planet to sustain life. The growing wealth gap between the well-off and the disadvantaged is not only undermining the ideal of fairness, but it is placing in jeopardy the future cohesion of our society. And democratic institutions and values and our culture are being compromised by the growth of corporate power.
These are potent and difficult challenges but there are solutions. By working collectively as a society we can find the answers that will create a fair and sustainable future.
As a university academic researching and teaching engineering, and as Greens NSW member of parliament, I have had the opportunity to work on many of these problems:
- Clean energy for a sustainable future
- Putting public education first to provide equal opportunity for all
- Solving Sydney's water supply problems
- Safe foods and low-energy consumer goods
The ideas are often controversial, but I believe they have to be - the social and environmental challenges facing our society are complex and it is increasingly difficult to find simple solutions. I hope this site is a useful contribution to those debates.
I would really welcome your comments and suggestions. Please feel free to contact me at any time.
If you would like me to talk to your group on any of these topics, please contact me and we can arrange a time. I am happy to talk to small groups or large.
