TransGrid’s North Coast Line: Vandalism without reason

State-owned transmission company TransGrid wants to spend $227 million to build a massive 330 kV power line from Bonshaw on the Queensland border to Lismore.

The Power line is not needed and if built would:

  • increase household electricity bills to pay for unnecessary infrastructure,
  • destroy North Coast jobs and business opportunities in renewable energy and demand management,
  • increase the carbon footprint of North Coast residents by making them more dependent on coal-fired electricity from Queensland, and
  • sever an important green corridor from Queensland into northern NSW

State-owned electricity transmission company Transgrid is planning to bulldoze a massive power line through a continuous vegetation corridor linking the Snowy Mountains to Queensland, according to Greens NSW MP John Kaye.
