Send a message to Labor Party Members of Parliament!

We have prepared a draft email to Labor members, and leaders of the Liberal, National, Shooters and Christian Democrat Parties of the NSW Parliament which you can send by clicking HERE. The text from the email is also printed below. You can forward the email as it is - or better still edit into your own words to increase its impact.

Be sure to put in your own name and address at the bottom!

If you have any problems with this facility, you can manually send the email by copying the text below into your email program, and sending it to the email addresses in the NSW Lower House members list and/or NSW Upper House members list. It would also be great if you BCC justin.whelan@parliament.nsw.gov.au in the office of John Kaye MLC so we know you have sent the message.

Sample email:

Subject line: Stop Nathan Rees' back-door sell-off

Body Text:

Dear Member of the NSW Parliament,

I ask you to oppose any attempt by Premier Nathan Rees and Treasurer Eric Roozendaal to sell off NSW's electricity retailers and lease trading rights of the generators through the back door.

The government is showing contempt for parliament and for the people of NSW.

In February 2008, the former Treasurer gave a direct assurance to parliament that the sale of any part of the electricity industry would not happen without the support of parliament. He did this to ward off a Greens bill that would have closed the loophole preventing a sale by administrative decision.

Privatisation of retailers will lead to higher bills, fewer jobs and reduced services. It will make it harder for NSW to cut its CO2 emissions, at a time when the NSW government should instead be using its control over the electricity industry to rapidly transition to a clean energy future.

I urge you to represent the views of your constituents on this important matter and put an end to Nathan Rees' Plan C sell-off.

Sincerely,
